Indications of Candibac

Candibac® Ear Drops is indicated for the treatment of superficial bacterial and fungal infections of the external auditory canal and middle ear, caused by organisms susceptible to the action of chloramphenicol and clotrimazole.

Pharmacology of Candibac

Beclomethasone: A steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the ear red, swollen and itchy.

Dosage & administration of Candibac

For infections of the ear canal:

  • Adults and children: Use 2 or 3 drops in the affected ear 2 to 3 times a day.

Composition of Candibac

Candibac® Ear Drops: Each ml contains Beclomethasone dipropionate BP 0.25 mg. Chloramphenicol BP 50 mg, Clotrimazole BP 10 mg and Lidocaine USP 17.3 mg.

Contraindication of  Candibac

Candibac® ear drops are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients present in it. It is also contraindicated in viral infections of the ear.

Chloramphenicol of  Candibac

Broad-spectrum antibiotic that acts by interfering with bacterial protein synthesis and provides bacteriostatic action.

Clotrimazole of  Candibac

A broad spectrum antimycotic or antifungal agent that acts primarily by damaging the permeability barrier in the cell membrane of fungi which stops the growth of fungi in the ear.

Lidocaine of  Candibac

Acts as a local anesthetic, decreasing the pain in the affected area and reducing the amount of fluid of the outer ear canal.

Side effects of  Candibac

Stop the medication and check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur: Swelling, Dermatitis, Burning feeling affecting the ear, Mild stinging sensation & Pruritis in the ear, hypopigmentation and or other sign of irritation not present before use of this medicine.

Interaction of Candibac

Found few drug interaction when concurrently use any of the following medications such as Ceftazidime, Chlorpropamide, Cyclosporine, Dicumarol, Fosphenytoin, Phenytoin, Rifampin, Rifapentine, Tacrolimus, Tetanus Toxoid, Tolbutamide.

Use of Candibac in Pregnancy

Safety during pregnancy or lactation has not been established.

Pediatric Use : Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients below 6 months of age have not been established.

Pharmaceutical Precautions of Candibac

Store below 25°C. Do not freeze. Store in a cool and dry place away from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after 1 month of first opening.
